WORLD SERIES: Dodgers Take Game One, 3-1, On Justin Turner Home Run

Players of the Day for Tuesday, October 24, 2017

World Series

Game one of the 2017 World Series was played as though it was scripted in nearby Hollywood as the Dodgers defeated the Houston Astros, 3-1 in Los Angeles.

Turner: 2-run HR
Houston's Dallas Keuchel and LA's Clayton Kershaw dueled to a 1-1 tie through six innings, but, in the seventh, premiere batsman, Justin Turner, turned on a Keuchel delivery and deposited in the left field stands for a 3-1 advantage.

Chris Taylor, who led off the Dodgers' first inning with a solo homer off Keuchel, walked prior to Turner's at-bat and scored on the drive.

With the lead, Kershaw completed the seventh inning, turning in another solid performance, limiting Houston to one run on three hits, striking out 11. The concern for the Astros is that they could be facing Kershaw, possibly the greatest pitcher of this generation, again in game four and possibly, if needed in a game seven.

Turner, who batted .322 during the regular season, is absolutely smoking in the post-season, batting .371 (13-for-35) with four homers and 15 RBI.

Brandon Morrow and Kelly Jansen worked the eighth and ninth, neither giving up a hit or walk. Jansen picked up the save, a World Series first for him.

Game two is Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, first pitch slated for 8:08 pm ET. Rich Hill goers to the mound for the Dodgers against Houston's Justin Verlander.
