Rick Ankiel Returns; Ichiro Tops AL Batters

Seattle 13 Baltimore 8 - The Mariners took a 1-game lead in the wild card race over the Yankees and Tigers and are still 2 1/2 games behind the Angels in the AL West. Ichiro Suzuki (right) went 3-5, drove in 3 runs and scored twice, boosting his batting average to .350, tops in the league, signaling that the batting race is now officially over. Ichiro, who has had more than 200 hits in each of his 6 full seasons with Seattle, has 165 and has had 3 hits in each of his last 3 games.

Chi Cubs 10 Colorado 2 - Jacque Jones went 4-5 and drive in 4 runs as the Cubs got back to just 1/2-games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central.
San Diego 0 St. Louis 5 - Rick Ankiel (right) returned to the majors - as an outfielder - and delivered a three-run shot to lead the Cardinals over the Padres for the second straight day. The Cards took 3 of 4 from San Diego and are now just 5 1/2 back of Milwaukee, while pushing the Padres a full 3 games back of Arizona in the West.
