Blake started the scoring and ended it as well, with a bloop single to center that plated Kenny Lofton, who singled and stole second base, making him the all-time postseason leader in steals with 34, passing Rickey Henderson.
In between Blake's RBIs, the Indians scored five more runs, highlighted by Jhonny Peralta's three-run shot to right, his second three-run homer of the series.
With the Indians ahead, 7-0, the Red Sox finally got to Cleveland starter Paul Byrd in the top of the 6th. Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz hit back-to-back homers off Byrd, sending him to the showers. Manny Ramirez greeted reliever Jensen Lewis with a blast to right center for the third Boston score, but Lewis settled down and only allowed one hit after that.
Rafael Betancourt, who has been nothing short of fantastic for the Indians, pitched two perfect innings in the 8th and 9th to seal the victory and leave Boston on the brink of elimination. The middle reliever has worked 5 1/3 innings between games 2, 3, and 4, allowing just 3 hits and no earned runs.

For the third consecutive season, the Yankees were knocked out in the opening round and that continuing failure may cost manager Joe Torre his job. Owner George Steinbrenner said before game 3 that he would likely fire Torre if the Yankees didn't win the series.
There was no mention of Torre's future following the loss, but in the Cleveland locker room the champagne was flowing. The Indians again had victimized Yankee starter Chien-Ming Wang, pitching on three days rest, for two runs in the first and two more in the second inning. Wang did not retire a batter in the second before being replaced by Mike Mussina, who allowed the other two runs over 4 2/3 innings, when Victor Martinez singled home a pair in the 4th.
The Yankees managed to cut into the lead with solo homers by Robinson Cano, Alex Rodriguez and Bobby Abreu, but while they nearly matched Cleveland in hits, 13-12, they could not get runners home in key situations, stranding 10 runners for the game.
For the series, the most notable flops were by Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez. Jeter was 3-17, didn't score a run and drove in just one while fanning 5 times in the series. Rodriguez went 4-15, but only drove in one run on his homer in game 4. He struck out 6 times in the four games.
The Cleveland bullpen was dominant, allowing just two earned runs - both in game 4 - on 7 hits over 13 innings of work.

Baltimore 0 Boston 10 - Less than a week ago, Clay Buchholz was pitching for Pawtucket in the International League. On Saturday night, he became the toast of the American League. Buchholz (right), in just his second major league start, twirled a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles, who lost for the 10th time in their last 11 games and were also recent victims of a 30-3 whipping by the Texas Rangers, so the rookie picked the right night and the right team for his best stuff.
The rookie, now 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA, wasn't overpowering, but changed speeds well and followed the game plan of catcher Jason Varitek nearly flawlessly, striking out 9 and walking 3 batters. Buchholz was called up on Saturday when teams were allowed to expand their rosters. According to manager Terry Francona, he'll probably stick with the big club for a while.
Tampa Bay 6 NY Yankees 9 - Alex Rodriguez socked his major league-leading 45th home run in the first inning - a 2-run job - and added a 2-run double in the 4th to pad his MLB-best RBI total to 129. He also singled, going 3-4 for the night. New York continues to chase Boston in the East, 5 games back, but they now have a 2-game edge in the wild card standings as Seattle has lost 8 straight.
Chi White Sox 0 Cleveland 7 - While the Mariners have been a picture of collapse, the Indians have been exactly the opposite, winning 9 in a row and opening up a 5 1/2-game lead on Detroit in the Central.
Paul Byrd blanked Chicago with a his second 4-hit complete-game shutout in less than a month. Bryd (14-5) matched his effort of August 6 at Minnesota, when he shut out the Twins, 4-0.

NY Mets 5 Atlanta 1 - A couple of guys named Carlos led the Mets to their second straight win over the fading Braves. Carlos Beltran (right) went 3-4 with a solo homer - his 26th - and scored three times, and Carlos Delgado homered for the 2nd straight game (21), driving in 2 runs. The Mets increased their lead over Philly to 3 games and dropped the Braves to 6 1/2 back. The Mets will try for the sweep on Sunday afternoon in Atlanta.
Pittsburgh 3 Milwaukee 12 - Kevin Mench singled, doubled and homered in 3 at-bats, scored four times and drove in 3 runs as the Brewers banged out 15 hits to remain 1 1/2 back of Chicago in the NL Central.
Cincinnati 3 St. Louis 11 - The Cardinals made it back to the .500 mark again, and stayed 2 games behind the Cubs. Former pitcher Rick Ankiel went 3-4, drove in 3 runs, scored twice and is batting .354.
LA Dodgers 0 San Diego 7 - Jake Peavy struck out 9 and blanked the Dodgers on 2 hits over 7 innings to improve his record to 16-5 and drop his ERA to 2.10, best in the majors. The Padres remained .001 ahead of the Diamondbacks in the NL West race.
Colorado 7 Arizona 13 - Arizona scored 12 runs in the first three innings and never looked back. Tony Clark stroked a 3-run homer in the second inning and drove in two more with a single in the third to help keep the D-Backs even with the Padres.

Chi Cubs 1 Houston 2, 10 innings - Playing without Alfonso Soriano (right), who was injured trying to go from first to third in Sunday's game, the Cubs could muster only 4 hits against Houston starter Wandy Rodriguez and eventually lost the game in the 10th inning when Eric Munson singled home Ty Wigginton. The Cubs could have caught Milwaukee for first place in the NL Central, and without their star - who is expected to be out 4-6 weeks - that task becomes much more difficult.
Milwaukee 2 Colorado 6 - With the Cubs breathing down their necks, the Brewers will have to do better than this. Matt Holliday hit his 21st home run - a 2-run shot - and Brad Hawpe slugged a 3-run shot - his 19th - to keep Colorado close in the NL West.
